Confetti on the Threshing Floor | Dorsvloer vol confetti
Confetti on the Threshing Floor is a sensitive novel about the struggle of a girl to take charge of her own life. And a loving portrait of an orthodox Dutch farming community in Zeeland with its unique culture of storytelling.
Katelijne, the sole daughter amidst six brothers is scarcely involved with the work on the farm. Talk at the dinner table is mostly lost on her. While her desire to participate in the family is growing, her fantasy is taking its own course. And her fantasy is being fed by stories. Family memories, village gossip, Bible stories, tales of reformations - and fairytales, but those are forbidden, because they are lies who distract Katelijne from the truth.
She learns that her own words have a big impact on the entire family, that words create the images that make up our lives.
